GameSpy: Fable 2 Preview
GameSpy: Fable 2 Preview
GameSpy writes: "We"ve already seen quite a bit of Fable 2, so what"s left to talk about? As it turns out, Lionhead Studios" helmsman (at least creatively speaking) Peter Molyneux still has a trick or two up his sleeves, so during today"s Microsoft-focused event he began expounding on the depth of Fable 2"s story and huge, open-world environment. While Molyneux"s description of the rich, evocative plot included one seriously huge spoiler, that portion of the demo will not be presented here (except to say that it was a humdinger, perfectly in line with the trajectory of Fable 2"s apparent obsession with making us feel emotions).

In classical theater terms, Fable 2 would be considered a comedy, because the protagonist ascends from a lowly status to a grandiose one (a tragedy is the opposite). Of course, in order to do this, Molyneux has no trouble admitting that this means that you begin the game as the lowliest of all lowlies: a poor little kid... that gets pooped on by sparrows. Fortunately, you"ve got a sister to help guide you through the tricky process of growing up, but becoming an adult is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. In fact, choices that you make as a wee child will affect how you begin the game proper."

Spiffy:
-Delicate moral decisions
-Genuine emotional attachment
-Simple yet deep combat system

Iffy:
-Still seems a long, long way from being anywhere near finished
-Lots of concept, little demonstrable execution
