BLU-RAY is being adopted faster than DVD was, but there won"t be a fall in the price of discs any time soon.
Sony representative Tim Harris said it would take some time for new release Blu-ray movies to drop in price.
Executives at the event also said Blu-ray was being adopted by consumers at a faster rate than DVD had been. More than 50 million Blu-ray players had been sold around the world in the last 3 years, according to the company"s figures.
Sony"s Paul Colley said that number included PlayStation 3 sales.
"The PS3 was specifically positioned as a Blu-ray player to get Blu-ray into people"s homes," he said.
